The U.S. Department of Energy reports natural gas also powers more than 175,000 vehicles in the United States and roughly 23 million vehicles worldwide. According to Argonne National Laboratory, light-duty vehicles running on natural gas can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% and as much as 84% if running on renewable natural gas. Because CNG fuel systems are completely sealed, the vehicles produce no emissions.
