COVID-19 Update for Texas - August 16

Post by dan_s »

Thru 8-15-2020
Deaths by Age:
0-1 = 0
1-9 = 5
10-19 = 10
20-29 = 68
30-39 = 198
40-49 = 524
50+ = 9,035
Total = 9,840 which is ~0.0328% of the Texas population or 328 deaths per 1,000,000
Texas population is ~70% under the age of 50.
From all causes over 270,000 people are expected to die in Texas this year out of a total population of ~30 million. Less than 5% will die from COVID-19.

If you are a healthy person under 50 you should "Fear the FEAR more than the virus."
Does it make any sense that with only 15 deaths under the age of 20 that we are keeping the schools closed?
Does keeping kids away from school make them any safer than sending them to school?
The kids living in my neighborhood seem to be spending a lot of time with other kids anyway and they aren't wearing masks.
Does shutting down sports programs make teenagers any safer? Or does it increase the likelihood that they will use drugs or commit suicide?

Facebook post from a friend:

“Putting on a mask to walk ten feet through a restaurant and then taking it off when I get to my table is one of the dumbest things I’ve done in my entire life and I’ve done a lot of dumb things.”
