This should concern everyone - Poverty = Children dying

Thanks to the pandemic shutdowns, millions of families will be pushed into poverty.

Extreme poverty is an issue I’ve worked with, in a small capacity, for years nows. The problems are complex and the solutions are not straight forward. Here is what is straight forward, if governments actions threaten people with starvation, it might get ugly. If a population loses faith in its leadership, it might get ugly. When you sprinkle overt corruption in there, it’s going to get ugly.

There are at least three issues at stake.
First, the main one, which is people need to work to provide for their families.
Second is the amount of money that will be wasted by governments globally. When governments print money, it devalues said money. In other words, we become more impoverished. This can be offset some if the money is put to good use. However, when the money is printed and wasted, that is the worst possible outcome.
Finally, because the political elites are using extreme measures to control their populations, it could become standard. In fact, it will become normal in some places. Sadly, much of it is in the places where those people have the least amount of resources to stand up for themselves.

If we are supposed to learn from history, then we should know that the political elites will only make things worse and squander millions….billions…trillions…of dollars in the process.

It’s past time for the world to open up, it’s the humane thing to do. If we don’t, prepare for the headlines to only get worse.

The larger untold story of COVID-19 is not the countless dollars that will be misappropriated. It is the fundamental power shifts the will happen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here’s a few things that are currently going on:

> Coup in Mali results in president resigning
> Jihadists take hundreds hostage during raid in north-east Nigeria
> 'State of anarchy' in southern Colombia
> Islamist Attacks in Mozambique Threaten to Disrupt Total-Led Natural-Gas Project
> Ethiopia protest clashes kill at least nine, most by gunshot, doctors say
> Protesters In Spain Decry COVID-19 Mask Mandate
> Protests Grow in Thailand, Where Speaking Out Can Be Perilous
> Belarus opens criminal case against opposition leaders
> Crime increasing in Chicago, Seattle, Portland, St. Louis, New York, etc. and Police being defunded. < Who is in charge of these cities???

What do we make of these protests/skirmishes/coups that we are seeing globally?
