Refining Capacity

Post by sl6886 »

Dan,

You talk quite a bit about Refinery utilization, where it's important to be above 90% to make a dent in the above ground inventory level/days of supply. I'm wondering how much capacity may be off line for a few days, and what you think the implications are for gasoline inventories already below the 5 year average. What type of condition would need to come out of this hurricane to get us closer to panic fill-ups by the nation?

Thoughts?

To early to tell, but I think refined product inventories will be hit hard; especially gasoline and diesel. I think we will see transportation fuel shortages in the SE quarter of the country first.
Ida also has disrupted shipping so imports and exports will be messed up.
