New tax on natural gas being proposed by Congress

Post by dan_s »

This type of tax will just be passed on to consumers in the form of higher and higher utility bills. Biden's campaign promise of now tax increases for people making less than $400,000/year was a LIE.

The American Gas Association (AGA), American Petroleum institute (API), Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), and Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) have reiterated calls for Congress to withdraw a new tax on natural gas – described as a ‘methane fee’ –from the proposed budget reconciliation bill. “Make no mistake, our industry supports methane emissions regulations that are safe, effective, and protect energy reliability. EPA is expected to propose significant new federal methane emissions regulations any day now, yet the new tax under consideration in Congress would apply regardless of compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
