Omicron is NOT DEADLY

Post by dan_s »

So far, each time I Google "Omicron Deaths" there are only a few countries that have reported people who have died "with" Omicron and most if not all that have died "with Omicron" also had other serious illnesses. The total looks like it is less than 20 who have died "with" the new variant.

Covid 19 Stats also are encouraging; showing that despite a spike in Covid cases there is not a spike in deaths.

Whenever you are dealing with BIG NUMBERS it is easy to generate a lot of FEAR.

At the time of this post, Earth's human population is estimated at 7,867,992,000 and growing by over 220,000 per day. < So, we are dealing with a very large population and 100% of us are going to die.
Total Covid-19 confirmed cases = 281,009,481 or 3.57% of Earth's population. < It also is expected that "confirmed cases" is a lot of people counted more than once.
Total people that have died "with" Covid-19 (all variants including Delta and Omicron) is 5,420,208, or 1.93% of confirmed cases and just 0.0689% of the Earth's population. < So, 99.9% of us will die from something else besides a variant of Covid-19.
Compare that to the total number of human deaths from all causes of approximately 116,000,000 in 2020 and 2021. So, Covid-19 deaths are only 4.67% of total human deaths. Definitely significant, but not the end of human life on Earth significant by any means.

Here is the really good news: Omicron has not cause a spike in Covid Deaths.
Covid-19 deaths peaked on 1-27-2021 at 17,540, a second peak on 4-27-2021 at 15,680 and a third peak on 8-28-2021 at 11,870.
There was a slight increase in reported Covid-19 deaths on 12-1-2021 to 8,819
The most recent daily report was on 12-24-2021 of 5,955 Covid-19 deaths. < Again for comparison, the average daily human deaths in 2021 and 2022 have been approximately 159,000. Plus, a high percentage of "Covid-19 Deaths" are people that were going to die soon anyway.

My Conclusion: The pattern is one of less death with each wave. Hospitals are not being overrun, people with healthy immune systems are in very little danger and we now have treatment plans that work. Healthy children have zero risk of dying from Omicron.

What does this have to do with the Energy Sector? < When the FEAR of the Omicron Variant fades, energy demand forecasts will go up and so will the price of oil. We already have serious supply chain problems that will take a lot of energy to fix. This world cannot afford rolling shutdowns.
