To the average person on the street, the term "Free Trade" sounds good. Hint: When the title of something sounds good coming out of Washington (i.e. - The Affordable Care Act) it usually does just the opposite.
Over the last twenty-five years, the United States has had a global trade deficit with 101 countries amounting to $12 trillion. Our lopsided commerce with the Communist People's Republic of China, hardly a haven of freedom or free trade, has totaled $4 trillion over the last twenty-five years, and accounts for 60 percent of the U.S. trade deficit all on its own.
The global trade deficit has cost the United States more than 6 million jobs, chiefly at the expense of America's industrial heartland. Donald Trump says that trade deals need to put American workers, America's industrial base, and our national security interests ahead of unthinking ideological commitment to a free trade system where only we play by the "free trade" rules. He's absolutely right.

Re: Free Trade Deals
that's one the things about trump that is scary. how do we keep from getting into a tariff strong trade war like happened in the thirties that exasperated the great depression?
Re: Free Trade Deals
Keep in mind that Trump cannot slap on tariffs by himself, Congress will have to do it.
He will not use the illegal presidential orders that Obama has.
Trump believes in teams of smart people. That is how real leaders get things done. He could not have built a business the size of his without putting smart people in leadership roles.
