Please, no more Trump propaganda

Post by k1f »

Please, no more naive Trump propaganda on this board.

<<Dr. Zervos also pointed out, as does the paper, that the study results should be interpreted with some caution, should not be applied to patients treated outside of hospital settings and require further confirmation in prospective, randomized controlled trials that rigorously evaluate the safety and efficacy of hydroxychloroquine therapy for COVID-19.

Henry Ford Health System is currently also involved in a prophylactic hydroxychloroquine study: “Will Hydroxychloroquine Impede or Prevent COVID-19,” or WHIP COVID-19. The study is a 3,000-person, randomized, double-blinded look at whether hydroxychloroquine prevents healthcare and frontline workers from contracting the COVID-19 virus.. . . There are currently 619 people enrolled in the study, out of a target of 3,000.>>

Government shutdowns and travel restrictions related to COVID-19 are the #1 thing impacting the oil market today. The announcement of an effective treatment for COVID-19 is an appropriate news item to be posted here.

Something that's interesting to me is that with all the gloom and doom about COVID-19, including the non-stop political name calling, so far the number of global deaths from all causes is averaging BELOW the normal range.

Each year 0.8 to 1.2 percent of the world's population dies. Without a serious war, it is usually at the low end of the range. During the 2nd quarter the number of deaths from all causes has actually slowed down.

As of today the World Population Clock ( https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/ ) shows that we are on-track for less than 60 million deaths this year. In a world with 7.8 million people that is only 0.77% deaths. It will take a big surge in COVID-19 deaths to reach a million, so it won't come close to the Top Ten causes of death and it will probably end up being around the 20th cause of death this year. Heart attacks and Cancer are by far the top two causes of death each year.

The majority of people dying from COVID-19 are over age 65. ~9% of the world's population is over 65.

As you can see at the link above, the number of births still exceeds the number of deaths. More people = more demand for energy.
