Re: Energy as a percentage of the S&P 500, valuations -- major trend change?
Thanks for the great links! Perhaps I’m parroting Goehring & Rozencwajg, but when over-investment in oil and gas creates a structural oversupply, two critical things happen: First prices plummet for an extended period. To survive, producers must keep producing, but low prices leads to consolidat...

Re: Natural Gas Prices - Jan 29
The latest European ENSO forecast shows that the La Nina is ending quicker than expected. By summer it will be replace by an El Nino. I expect this forecast trend to reduce the summer build, but also reduce next winter's draw. I'll be watching it closely, but my best guess is peak Nat Gas prices in ...

While KRP continues to offer a nice dividend, currently around 12%, its Total Return the past 3 years is basically 1%. Year to date, price is down nearly 30% and total return is down 21%. Thanks Dan and Harry,

I did own both, so the merger means Viper is my 7th largest holding. KRP remains my largest position, but it’s down a bit due to soft gas prices right now.

One question: How long do you think it will take Viper to get it's debt down to the $1.5 billion level at projected FCF ?
Thanks

Helmerich & Payne (HP) bottoming
HP has done a triple bottom since mid May. In the past 2 days it has jumped up 9%. I don't see any obvious news as to why. However, it certainly makes sense to me. The best driller was down over 70% from its 2022-23 highs. With oil in the dumps, its only a matter of time before prices rebound and dr...

HP pays a nice dividend of 5.5% or $1.00 per share. Since early February, the stock has suffered a 43% drop. When compared to OIH which is currently down 18% over the same period, HP is seriously undervalued. Technically it still looks weak. The stock price has returned to mid 2020 COVID lows, down ...

It seems to me that producers would not be in any hurry to deploy more rig and frac crews until there is more certainty. Rushing back in could be costly. Holding back sounds like more revenue with less CapEx to me.

Currently 3.125 shares of CRGY is tracking very closely to SBOW.
Since SBOW doesn't pay a dividend and CRGY is currently paying $0.12 per quarter,
it seems to me I'd be better of selling SBOW and buying CRGY.
