Re: ‘The party hasn’t even started yet’

STNG topped out at 56.86 back in mid-Dec and was only above $55 for a few days. Wonder if the CEO managed to unload his $55 and $60 options.

Timeframes for significant movement

I'm looking at call options for some of the Sweet 16 and wanted to ask if Dan/forum could give thoughts on timeframes for significant movement - say above 50% gains from today. In reviewing my notes, there are a number of factors that have been discussed here in forum, in Dan's podcasts and VFH pape...

Re: Between rising dollar and recession chatter...

Oh, no worries, I'm plenty optimistic about it. Nobody's going to be switching on half a dozen secret fusion reactors in the next six weeks. Just the usual lamentations over buying it here instead of buying it there and being able to grab that much more of it.

Between rising dollar and recession chatter...

Bought some SBOW yesterday thinking 'boy this is a dip not to be missed!' It's sunk 12% since. Maybe I get some money back once it finally goes negative and people start paying me to take shares off their hands.

Re: Impact to oil/gas stocks when Ukraine war is over

I don't expect Putin would settle for much less than everything he wants. He believes he has Ukraine and everyone else by the short hairs and I haven't read any convincing argument that he's wrong. Seems like he can wait as long as necessary but the EU and others have until winter to either make som...

Impact to oil/gas stocks when Ukraine war is over

We've been seeing more and more conjecture about the EU and others potentially pressuring Ukraine to reach whatever agreement Russia will accept to end the war. Presumably, Russian oil and gas would then start flowing again. I'm wondering about various scenarios and impacts and timeframes. A lot of ...

Influence of politics on stock performance - eg windfall tax

I'm wondering how various politically based actions might impact stock prices. There is a lot of news about windfall taxes already put in place and about proposed windfall taxes (US and elsewhere). Such taxes/actions may or may not happen or amount to anything substantial - many such things have ass...

Re: Option strategies for the Sweet 16

I haven't worked with spreads yet but that's largely because I'm focusing on the energy sector where things are expected to 'simply go up'. I'll buy some puts but cheaper ones, solidly OTM - essentially just as insurance against a complete market crash. I do plan to get into spreads and other forms ...

Option strategies for the Sweet 16

First time post so 'Hello Forum': I'm looking at buying call options for some of the Sweet 16 and maybe some of the small caps. Of course with calls it's all about timeframes - if the stock achieves its outstanding upside but does it after my options have already expired then I'm simply out 100% of ...
