Re: Centennial Resource Development (CDEV)
I think that CDEV is a very interesting way to place a bet on Mark Papa, if you think that what he built EOG is repeatable to some degree. They seem to have big money behind them and it seems logical to expect other acquisitions in the Permian Basin or Scoop and Stack. CDEV also has warrants (CDEVW)...

Dan: I have a position in NFX that is a few points in the black. It seems to me that the Permian Basin is clearly the hot area, while the shares of companies focused on Scoop & Stack have not been moving up as much. Do you think that the negative publicity related to earthquake activity in OK is...

FWIW, Oil & Gas Investments Bulletin (Keith Schaeffer) just out with a buy recommendation on Jones Energy.

Re: BBEP to acquire QRE
BBEP has traded to yield approximately 9%, so with the new divvy at $2.08, it ought to be worth roughly 23.11/share. QRE shares should be worth .9856 times $23.11 or ~$22.78.
Nothing too scientific here, but it looks like QRE should have more upside after today's pop.

I read Value Digger's article, which is intended to promote Caza (CAZFF). Any opinion on Caza or do you think it's hype. Admittedly, they are a penny stock at this stage.

Re: Denbury Resources (DNR)
Denbury never seems to get any love from Wall Street. Held their shares for a while, but it was pretty dead money, so I sold.
FWIW, I did not some helium-related business with them and was quite unimpressed by the folks with whom I did business.

Dan:
Would you say that CLR is your favorite among the Sweet 16 right now. All of them are bargains right now, but if you had to pick one for a combination of capital appreciation without a lot of risk, which one would it be?

Hey Dan: Just wondering what your thoughts are related to Carl Icahn's 5%+ investment in CHK. Re: Is now the time to buy natural gas stocks?
Chevron's acquisition of Atlas is another indication that some of the majors think the timing is good to invest in NG shares. You make more money investing in groups that are out of favor before they move than you do by investing in groups that are in favor and have already made most of their move. ...

For those of you looking for divvys, MHR has a preferred stock that pays 10.25%. It trades for 25 and is callable for $25 approximately one year out, so this is probably not a long term thing, but nothing wrong with 10.25% for a year.

ATPG now up nearly 10% to $11.33 this AM. I wonder if a buyout rumor is driving this move. When the stock was $9+, I sold Jan 2011 7.5 puts and bought Jan 2011 12.5 calls with the proceeds. If I can get a few more bucks out of ATPG's stock price, this will be a really nice trade. So far, so good. Mr...
