Re: Rame investigates a sale along with other alternatives

I took a look at Ram's Balance Sheet this evening. It may be worth something north of $2.50/share but I wonder if they will get that. They do have a lot of debt that must be assumed. The good thing is that about 65% of their production is oil and ngls which are selling for a premium today. $400 Mill...

NiMin Energy (NNN.TO)

NiMin Energy gave a very impressive presentation at our EPG luncheon on June 17. I have no problem recommending the stock. NiMin Energy trades on the TSX as NNN.TO It also trades in the OTCQX as NEYYF Their near-term growth is will be coming from four fields (all oil) they operate in Wyoming. NiMin ...

Re: ATP

I do think long-dated calls (i.e. - Jan 2012) on ATPG are a decent bet. Consider it gambling as this is not a wise move for your retirement savings.
The oil and gas under Telemark and Canyon Express has not gone anywhere.

Re: The View from Sugar Land - June 15

From the Wall Street Journal Online: "The U.S. government, responding to widespread outrage about the accident, seems willing to consider unprecedented steps to make sure BP pays. Whether this is fair or wise remains to be seen. I think it's worth considering that a major reason the dollar is t...

Is drilling offshore U.S. dead?

As a result of the BP Oil Spill: IMO it would be wise to avoid companies that are primarily doing business offshore U.S. (sorry ATPG shareholders). FEAR and GREED drive investors. FEAR trumps the fundamentals and it can for a long time. That said, there will be significant trading opportunities in t...

TGA is getting another rig for Egypt. http://www.egyptoil-gas.com/read_article_local.php?NID=1509 Based on this year's aggressive drilling program and results to date, TGA will be booking a significant addition to proven reserves at year-end. They are also heading toward an exit rate of 12,000 bopd....

The View from Sugar Land - June 15

What did you think of Obama's speech? Questions: 1. Does demonizing BP help? 2. Is putting $Billions in a slush fund that is run by the government really ensure legitimate claims get paid? 3. Using this tragedy to advance Cap & Trade, is that proper at this point? 4. Pushing a liberal "Gree...

Re: Kim's Behaviorial Finance Class

Kim; What you will find is that those who invested in TGA love me and those who invested in ATPG think I'm an idiot. Few actually follow my advise to diversify their investments. Personally, I rate myself based on the overall portfolio return. Except for 2008 the Sweet-16 has done quite well. I enjo...
