Antero Resources (AR) Upgrade - July 5

Post by dan_s »

Antero Resources Corporation (AR, $30.74, Buy) - Upgrade to BUY,
Recent Deep Decline Provides Opportune Entry Point as Gas/NGLs Likely to Stay Strong

Recent Selloff Creates Opportunity For NGL Upside Trade
We are upgrading Antero to Buy from Hold after the stock has
underperformed our coverage group by ~10% and other gas
E&Ps by ~5% over the past month as natural gas fell from its
multiple-year high. We believe AR’s set up is one of the best
ways to play the potential post-COVID NGL/natural gas domestic
and international recovery. There appears to us to be several
drivers to materially higher natural gas and NGLs such as limited
public E&P natural gas growth and notable future international
NGL demand. - Neal Dingmann at Truist Financial

Ar @ 27.97 = Market Cap of 8.7 b, Debt last qtr was 2.0 b . Free cash flow this qtr is estimated to be 700 m.-- so 8.7 +2.0-.7= an EV of 10.0 billion. The company has stated they would do 2.5 billion FCF at much lower strip prices than current (even after the recent downdraft)

2.5 b / 10 b EV is a 25 % return on EV ie 4 x
2.5 b / 8.7 = is 28.7 % return on equity

and if you prefer OCF 2.5+.8 = 3.3 / 10 is 3.0 x or 33 %.
Dan is using 6 x for valuation
