France Asks Citizens to Curb Power Usage over the Next Six Months
France has joined other countries in asking its citizens to curb power usage over the next six months to "avoid rotating power cuts as it grapples with a historic energy crisis." France's national grid operator (RTE) has already begun issuing "Red EcoWatt Alerts" to reduce energy consumption, and Bloomberg reported that France could avoid power cuts by reducing demand by 1-5% in most cases, or as much as 15% in severe weather situations.
