High yield for an IRA

Post by sl6886 »

Dan,

What high yield companies do not belong in an IRA. I know about Blackstone, but I'm wondering if there are any others? I believe you said VNOM is C-Corp status even though its a partnership?

Thanks

BSM is the only MLP. There is no law keeping you from owning a MLP in an IRA, but I don't advise it since you are putting a tax shelter in a tax shelter and there are some reporting requirements that are a pain in the neck.

FANG will be moving back to the Sweet 16 since they are just paying their base dividends now and using most of their free cash flow to buyback common stock, which I like better.

For now, I rate Coterra Energy (CTRA) a HOLD because it is heavily weighted to natural gas. Long term it is a rock solid company.

I personally own a lot of STR and VNOM.

For an IRA, take a look at HMENF and IPOOF. Both have solid balance sheets and pay nice dividends.
