He's doing what all politicians do which is" kick the can" so someone else will have to figure it out. After he gets his gold parachute.

Actually, I think its a hail mary to try to save his political ass. He will be out of power in 13 months time (currently 30% behind the Labour Party opposition in the polls - Labour are even more fervent Greens than Sunak). I think he concluded most Brits, despite being pro climate change, are more focused on their wallets and the costs of transition are becoming increasingly clear, along with the inflation its cause and general cost of living issues for most. While I think he's a dangerous idiot... part of me has to applaud this move - its ballsy and no doubt has Labour in fits. I no longer have a dog in the UK fight... have lived in the US for 25+ years... but is interesting to observe whats going on there from a far.
