Fuel consumption is going up

The gasoline consumption for the week was 9.4 mbl/day. This matches the highest week of the year which was the high travel 4th of July week.

The distillate increase is consistent with news that diesel vehicle shipping is up.

The trend is definitely continuing: "TOTAL products supplied over the last four-week period has averaged 19.2 million barrels per day, up by 3.0 percent compared to the similar period last year." (Gasoline consumption continued up for the fifth week after two down weeks.) This increase over last year has been going on for several weeks, and is getting larger, and now also includes increases for distillates and jet fuel. Is this trend sustainable?
