today's sell off

anybody got a clue as to what caused this? oilers opened as if it was going to be an excellent day, then about 1030 edt bottom started to fall out. :cry:

Trying to figure out the market on an hour to hour market will drive you nuts. Stocks that have run up into earnings will often sell off when actual results come in, even if they are very good.

Oil was up over $109 then pulled back but still over $108 as I write this.

All I can do is report that the fundamentals for companies heavily weighted to oil are outstanding right now.

Ya think a government shutdown could have any thing to do with it??? :idea:

well dow has been up most of the day, so its not a widespread sell off. one guy has said since most of the down side is with stocks with recent run ups its de-risking profits.
