Trump putting the heat on OPEC last week is more about having blame lined up for what will happen to the US consumer's gasoline bills when he smashes Iran?

That is scenario A. Scenario B is that it gives him cover to continue to waive sanctions against Iran with modified agreement that he is working on with Macron. He can say he needs to waive sanctions since it would hurt American consumers too much and we will see how this "modified agreement" works in the meantime. I give it a 50/50 chance. A week ago I thought it was 90% chance to not waive the sanctions. Actually, we will continue to draw down and demand is increasing, so we really don't need to cut off Iran's oil for our thesis to play out.

Iran is supplying weapons to rebels in Yemen that are in a shooting war with Saudi Arabia. Iran is also the big trouble maker in Syria. I think most of the world will be willing to pay a few cents more per gallon of gasoline to make sure Iran does not get a nuke. Middle East nations with nukes is scary stuff (i.e. - end of the world).

Why not send a few hundred Marines to Venezuela and take over that "s__t hole" country. Then we actually would be energy independent.
