Green Energy is NOT GREEN & very expensive

Post by dan_s »

The "Squad" needs a reality check: "No energy system is actually “renewable,” since all machines require the continual mining and processing of millions of tons of primary materials and the disposal of hardware that inevitably wears out. Compared with hydrocarbons, green machines entail, on average, a 10-fold increase in the quantities of materials extracted and processed to produce the same amount of energy."

FACT: "Replacing the energy output from a single 100-MW natural gas-fired turbine, itself about the size of a residential house (producing enough electricity for 75,000 homes), requires at least 20 wind turbines, each one about the size of the Washington Monument, occupying some 10 square miles of land."

WOW!

Read this to learn why there is no chance that wind and solar can replace natural gas fired power plants unless consumers are willing to pay A LOT MORE for their electricity and destroy the environment. > https://www.manhattan-institute.org/min ... lity-check

Energy transition could cost $40 trillion. If the world is to come anywhere close to limiting global warming to 2 degrees Celsius or below, it will need a bare minimum of US$30 trillion to US$40 trillion of investment in energy systems and decarbonization of industries where emissions are notoriously hard to abate such as steel and cement making, according to Wood Mackenzie.
