EIA - Natural Gas Storage Report - July 8

Working gas in storage was 2,574 Bcf as of Friday, July 2, 2021, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 16 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 551 Bcf less than last year at this time and 190 Bcf below the five-year average of 2,764 Bcf.
At 2,574 Bcf, total working gas is within the five-year historical range.

EIA reported a build of 16 Bcf for the week ending 7/02/2021. This was smaller than the median estimate of 28 Bcf. Today's stat fell outside the expected range, which was 47 Bcf on the more bearish end, and 19 Bcf on the more bullish end.

Prices were up in the five minutes following the announcement, to $3.666, from $3.619 just before 9:30am.

Inventories for the US are now at a deficit of 551 Bcf to last year and a deficit of 190 Bcf to the five-year average.
