UK Labour Party Calls for One-Off £1.2 billion Tax on North Sea Oil & Gas Firms
The UK's Labour Party has put forth a proposal to levy a one-time windfall tax on North Sea oil and gas operators totaling £1.2 billion. This would be used to help ease household energy bills amid the ongoing European energy crisis. The government is pushing to spend £6.6 billion towards subsidizing power bills across the UK. However, there is a long path before such a tax could occur, and several other parties are highly opposed.
Those evil oil companies!!! How dare they make profits off our stupidity!
