Exxon completes acquisition of XTO

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. /quotes/comstock/13*!xom/quotes/nls/xom (XOM 59.59, -0.48, -0.80%) said Friday it completed its all-stock acquisition of XTO Energy Inc. /quotes/comstock/13*!xto/quotes/nls/xto (XTO 42.29, -0.32, -0.75%) . Exxon said that the new organization will retain the XTO Energy Inc. name and Fort Worth, Texas head office, and "nearly all" of XTO's 3,300 employees.
Exxon now becomes a major player on all of the shale plays. They are also a 50% working interest partner with Kodiak Oil & Gas (KOG) on several sections in the Bakken.
