XLE sector

Post by Fraser921 »

1 today in pre-market up 1.1 %, crude up 2.2 %

With crude moving up people will start investing in the sector.

Talking heads still talking recession.

I track two items at the top of my Portfolio of stocks:

VIX - Measure of Market Indices, If RED markets will be up.

GUSH - If Green, typically a great day for O&G stocks. Today up over 7% at one point.

Top 8 Holdings (17.67% of Total Assets):

Name Symbol % Assets
    • Goldman Sachs FS Treasury FTIXX 9.72%
    • SM Energy Co SM 1.24%

hey Cliff

good one
GUSH is another of my favorite leveraged Energy sector ETNs
2x BULL the XOP

full disclosure: I use these leveraged ETNs (NRGU, GUSH, ERX) to swing trade a sector (such as currently with energy) and try to
catch the biggest part of an impulse move, as we all know it's hard to beat the house, I never allocate more then 5% of the pf to these trades...
this just happens to look like the time when the stars are aligning for WTI to head north of $100 and natgas go north of $3
Cushing is running dry
SPR is running dry
and Team Biden is... well we all know what Team Biden is doing to this sector

these leveraged ETNs are NOT recommended as buy n' hold. Be aware of "Decay" in leveraged products.

all of Dan's Sweet 16 are in the XOP (last time I looked ;)

fwiw
current holdings from the Sweet 16
BTE
CPG
VTLE
SBOW

what other Sweet 16 members should I be buying now? most undervalued, underappreciated, most potential for buyout,
most bang for the buck at current prices?

good luck to all !

Thanks Mike for the insight. I don't invest in GUSH just monitor it for movement in O&G stocks. It has a good mix.

Earthstone (ESTE) was a great stock. Bought in a $10.40 so the run up has been great. I also hold a significant position in CIVI, which pays a great dividend. We also bought at $64, so the run up has been great.

This is snap shot of my holdings, note VIX and GUSH are there only to monitor markets:
