Posted: Thu Oct 19, 2023 10:55 am
Working gas in storage was 3,626 Bcf as of Friday, October 13, 2023, according to EIA estimates.
This represents a net increase of 97 Bcf from the previous week.
Stocks were 300 Bcf higher than last year at this time and 175 Bcf above the five-year average of 3,451 Bcf.
At 3,626 Bcf, total working gas is within the five-year historical range.
Natural gas demand for space heating should start impacting these weekly reports next week.
Natural gas in storage should peak at ~3,800 Bcf around November 17th.
175 Bcf surplus to the 5-year average is not a "glut". A normal winter combined with LNG exports staying over 13 Bcfpd all winter, should push storage back to the 5-year average by the end of March.
