The View from Alaska

Today we are sailing to Icy Strait. Our group of ten is going whale watching. Chance of rain but at the time of this post we see beautiful snow covered mountains.
We do have a large tree down at our home from the hurricane. Based on pictures there is minimal damage to the house. Power is back on.

One of the best whale watching tours we've ever been on. Young native guide was very good. Three young males put on quite a show.

At Skagway today.
Hurricane damage at our house is minor but tree removal and cleanup will cost over $5,000.
Some of our friends are dealing with much worse.

At 10am CT I am still on our balcony about a mile away from the front wall of a glacier.
We are in an area called Endicott Arm about 45 miles south of Juneau.
We are going on a dog sled tour this afternoon.
A much different day than life in Houston.

You couldn’t have picked a better week to leave Houston for Alaska. May be the best trade you ever made!

Yesterday's dog sledding was FANTASTIC. 240 dogs and a dozen handlers and mushers live on the glacier all season (4 months). We were on the Mendendall glacier.
Today we went on a 1.5 hour sea plane ride over the Misty Fjords National Park which is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
When I see how large the Earth's ecosystem is, it reminds me that its foolish to think that humans can control the Earth's climate.
God's system works and it is self-balancing
