What to know today about tariffs
> President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for dozens of countries except China, which he said would now rise to 125%, causing stocks to surge.
> Beijing said it was hiking retaliatory duties on U.S. imports to 84% from 34% hours after Trump's sweeping global tariffs went into effect, which at that point included a total of 104% on goods from China.
> European Union officials also approved imposing a fresh set of retaliatory duties on U.S. imports into the region. The duties, which would come into effect April 15, would range from 10% to 25% on more than $24 billion worth of U.S. goods.
> While offering some criticism of Trump's new tariffs, some countries, including Japan and South Korea, have begun the process of negotiating new trade deals.

Try to take the emotions out of it for a few minutes.
1. This "Tariff War" is not even close to impact on oil demand during the Covid Pandemic.
2. This is a political issue and basically just a negotiating tool. It can end relatively soon.
3. The U.S. must stop the mounting debt problem.
4. Rebuilding the U.S. manufacturing industries = National Security.
5. I expect Trump to announce some good trade deals with Japan and South Korea soon.
6. The Republicans know that they must extend the Trump tax cuts made in his first term.
7. The Republicans know that they must make some major spending cuts, starting with waste, fraud & abuse.
