EIA Natural Gas Storage Report - April 24
Posted: Thu Apr 24, 2025 6:57 pm
Working gas in storage was 1,934 Bcf as of Friday, April 18, 2025, according to EIA estimates.
This represents a net increase of 88 Bcf from the previous week.
Stocks were 478 Bcf less than last year at this time and 44 Bcf below the five-year average of 1,978 Bcf.
At 1,934 Bcf, total working gas is within the five-year historical range.
Based on the CelsiusEnergy forecasts for the next three weeks, natural gas in working storage will move over the 5-year average by the end of April.
Since demand for natural gas is so much higher than it was five years ago (more than 10 Bcf per day just for exports), if storage volumes are measured on Days of Demand, gas storage is much lower than the 5-year average. There needs to be more gas in storage to ensure that this extremely valuable energy supply line runs smoothly.
