The ship being built is the LNG Powered AIDAnova Cruise Ship. The
vessel is 337m long (1,105 feet) and can house 6,600 passengers. AIDAnova is
the first of a new generation of LNG Powered Cruise Ships for Carnival Cruises –
the Helios Class. Built at Meyer and Neptun Shipyards in Germany and Meyer
Turku in Finland.

The number of LNG powered vessels is growing fast. The prediction is that the number of LNG powered vessels will increase from 641 (late 2024) with to 1,156 (2030). The increase in the number of vessels is impressive, but has a limited impact on the total world LNG market.
2024 LNG trade was 407 ton. Over the next five years this can grow with 30 M ton per year to 550-600 M ton. Shell estimates that in 2030 the LNG powered vessels will consume 16 M ton LNG. The LNG demand for LNG powered vessels in 2030 thus will be 16/550-600 = 2.7-2.9% of the total (see purple marine share in the chart below.
