Read what this guy has to say about SFY, then read my recent profile on the company.

The share price got hammered when they announced some difficulty getting a couple of their Eagle Ford wells completed and a reduction in their capital program. IMO the market oversold on what I thought was not that big of a deal. Based on my forecast, SFY is now trading at just 2X my 2013 CFPS forecast.

SFY is up 6% today.

In addition to SFY being one of our favorites it is rated 4* by S&P and is out perform rated by RBC. With the current price around $15 there appears to exist a good opportunity to play this one via short $15 puts.

bob, can you elaborate? if you are bullish, why not buy equities or calls?

also, can you explain what you mean by "short ---puts"?

Maybe with all the recent small oil companies stock being purchased by Blackrock, we should be purchasing Blackrock stock. :)

Well - the market is in a very elevated point. If I short - meaning sell puts - I can get cash now - and if SFY falls - I get assigned below the current market price. I want to buy stuff cheap. If it runs away from me - well great - I simply pocket the put premium.

Selling Put options on the dips is a good idea. Just be sure you are OK buying the shares at the strike price. I do it a lot.
