SM Energy (SM)

I added SM to the Sweet 16 on 7-1-2012 and it is up 52% since that date, but it is down 10% YTD. It has been the poorest preforming stock in the Sweet 16 this year. This makes no sense to me. First quarter results were solid ($0.96 earnings per share) and they are on-track to generate over $21/share of cash flow from operations.

This year's budget is heavily weighted to the Eagle Ford Shale, but the company has two very promising new plays. One is in East Texas, which is actually an extension of the Eagle Ford. The other is in the Powder River Basin. SM has already reported some strong horizontal wells in the PRB and they have accumulated a large acreage position in the play.

I am working on the updated profile for SM now and I will send it out via e-mail tomorrow morning. Read it carefully as I believe SM could move a lot higher during the second half of this year.
