Working gas in storage was 1,539 Bcf as of Friday, April 10, 2015, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 63 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 692 Bcf higher than last year at this time and 145 Bcf below the 5-year average of 1,684 Bcf.

Welcome to Shoulder Season! This report is bearish, but not totally unexpected. This is the time of the year when storage builds.

There is zero chance of the U.S. running out of storage capacity for natural gas. As the EIA reported on Monday, production of natural gas is starting to fall already in several shale plays. Holding down gas prices are the HUGE gas reserves in the Marcellus and Utica that sit so close to the Northeast market. My "hope" is that LNG exports do ramp up starting late this year, creating a better market for Texas and Louisiana gas.
