Dan, I think you have either a son or daughter living in Iceland. Do you know how Iceland transitioned after they defaulted and how they are doing today? For the life of me, I do not understand why Greece does not negotiate an exit from the Euro and simply get the foreign aid they need to provide food and medicine during the transition. They either have to be poor in Euro terms or rich in worthless Drachma terms. IMO once this is over we can get on with good markets.

My son married a girl from Iceland. They live there now with our two granddaughters.

My son's in-laws lost all of their savings in an Iceland bank when the country went under. They have a nice home in a small fishing town, but will have to work much longer than they wanted to.

Socialism does not work and I hate to see the U.S. heading in that direction. There is no "free lunch", but we have more and more citizens being conditioned to look to the government for their survival. At some point we will run out of working people to tax.
