GST
Re: GST
I think I posted here over a dozen times that the pfd stock was the way to go on Gastar. They call it "preferred" for a reason. I know one hedge fund that purchased $50 million of Gastar debt and it has more than doubled this year. I think he purchased it at around 30% of par and he'll probably collect 100% of par + the interest.
If you are a GST shareholder, the best thing you have going for you is Russ Porter. I have known Russ for many years. He is a fighter and will not give up. Many CEOs would have filed for Chapter 11 a year ago. Russ' ability of make some asset sales in a very tough market and get the recent joint venture agreement funded is noteworthy. Believe me, it is tough being a CEO in this business when the down cycles occur. Stockholders and creditors beat the hell out of you. GST could have gone to zero if Russ gave up.
If their Q4 operational report is solid with several high rate wells, the preferred could move back to par. Especially if they start paying dividends again, which Mike said on the last CC was their plan.
