Weather Update - January 17
Weather Update - January 17
Joe Bastardi now saying that the coldest weather this winter will be January 24 to February 10. You can listen to his update at the link below.
http://www.weatherbell.com/saturday-sum ... ry-17-2015
Near the end of his presentation he shows a map with some super cold temps the first week of February in Ohio and PA. In addition, to increasing natural gas for space heating, cold in this area may cause some well "freeze offs" in the Marcellus and Utica.

I tell everyone that if you have to choose between Global Warming or Global Cooling, you should choose warming. A long period of cooling will lead to mass starvation since a lot of farmland will be lost.
A big worry that I have (because my son lives there) is that the big volcano in Iceland blows. It has the potential to make a third of Europe uninhabitable. It could also lead to global cooling.

Re: Weather Update - January 17
DMN had a front page article this am that gov't scientist say last yr was warmest yet. into the article the word non-scientist was used to describe those in disagreement with the man made aspect. BTW, it came from NYT.
we sure need to make sure our republican nominee is a non-scientist. bush and christi for sure don't fit the bill. don't know about walker. romney does, or did last time.

I saw a report that said the Feds give $22 Billion per year to scientist who agree with Global Warming. Any "scientist" that disagrees is cut off from funding.

re: snow, in the mid-Atlantic region, last year at this time we had 20+ inches vs current 2 inches.
Re: Weather Update - January 17
Listen to Joe's weekend update. He thinks snow is on the way by end of January. Snow accumulations are not as important as the temperatures. Actually, heavy snow accumulation tends to be an insulator and can reduce the amount of gas burned for space heating.
I just get a kick out of Joe and he is usually right in the long run. BTW a lot of energy companies subscribe to his premium service.

If Joe gets his current forecast correct he truly will be a superstar. Frankly, I see him being completely out to lunch this winter. We shall see - but I am NOT a believer.dan_s wrote:Listen to Joe's weekend update. He thinks snow is on the way by end of January. Snow accumulations are not as important as the temperatures. re: Mid-Atlantic (Philadelphia), forecast from 1/18-27, highs mid 30's to 53 high, lows 22-33.
We shall see.

Re: Weather Update - January 17
Locally predicted snowfall of 8-12" in Philadelphia area a flop. Services/schools cancelled along with air traffic. Colder temps later this week and next.

Last Saturday (1/24) Joe said that February could see the coldest weather for the eastern half of the U.S. in decades. He also said cold could hang around deep into March.

Here in NE Ohio temperatures are seasonal. They are NOTHING like last year. IMO Bastardi is grand standing and off base. If he is right - he will be a true visionary seeing something others are not.
Cold days this year do not even reach zero at night. Cold days last year did not see zero for a high during the day.
