Natural Gas Storage Report - Jan. 21

Post by dan_s »

Working gas in storage was 3,297 Bcf as of Friday, January 15, 2016, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decline of 178 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 629 Bcf higher than last year at this time and 473 Bcf above the five-year average of 2,824 Bcf.

Go to http://www.americanoilman.com/ and click on Gas Storage in the upper left corner to see weekly changes in gas storage for the last five years.

Gas in storage will continue to decline through mid-April. The amount in storage should be around 2,000 Bcf at the end of the heating season. This compares to a 5-year average of 1,608 Bcf.

Since we now use a lot more gas for power generation, a higher storage level is justified.
