Stuff Happens

Post by dan_s »

June 1: On our drive back from Louisiana today we found out that Susan's mother (age 88) had died around noon. Despite the fact that we've known this day was coming, it is quite a blow for Susan, who is an only child. Vera was a sweet lady who had a blessed life. Our belief is that she is in a much better place. If she did not make the cut, very few of us have a chance.

I am getting ready for tomorrow's luncheon in Houston. We are expecting 90-100 attendees at the Hess Club. I will open with an update on the oil & gas markets and how they are tightening. We should have some reports from the OPEC meeting, but again I do not think it matters much what OPEC does. They may not even discuss a production freeze since global supply / demand is so rapidly working back to balance and we may well see demand exceed supply within a year.

The flooding in Houston is getting worse and the forecast is for a lot more rain over the next five days. As we drove into Sugar Land we went by a park that is now under water. We have lived here for 22 years and I have never seen any water in this park. Today it is under 4 feet of water. Our neighborhood is still high and dry, but this is getting weird. I hope none of you have been directly impacted by flooding. It is terrible to have water in your home.

Dan, our prayers for repose of the soul for Susan's mom are on the way.

Jim;
Thanks. Vera (Susan's mom) was a good Christian woman. A classic mother from a generation of good moms. Susan's father died 16.5 years ago, so Vera had been living in Tulsa by herself for many years, but she had a lot of friends.
