United States:
> Rigs drilling for oil increased by 1 to 407, compared to 662 a year ago and 1,609 in October, 2014 (the peak)
> Rigs drilling for gas increased by 7 to 88, compared to 202 a year ago.
> Gulf of Mexico rig count declined by 7 to 10, compared to 31 a year ago.
Canada:
> Rigs drilling for oil declined by 7 to 77, compared to 78 a year ago
> Rigs drilling for gas declined by 2 to 60, compared to 109 a year ago
Active rig count is below the level needed to hold production flat.
