The North American active rig count declined by 4 last week.
United States:
> Rigs drilling for oil increased by 2 to 416, compared to 644 a year ago and 1,609 at the peak in October, 2014
> Rigs drilling for gas declined by 3 to 89, compared to 198 a year ago (This is part of the reason that U.S. natural gas and NGL production is on steady decline).
Canada:
> Rigs drilling for oil increased by 1 to 75, compared to 70 a year ago
> Rigs drilling for gas declined by 3 to 56, compared to 112 a year ago
309 of the 506 rigs drilling in the United States (61%) are in Texas and Oklahoma.
