Natural gas prices could spike to $4.00/MMBtu

Bloomberg: Natural gas prices could rise. With record levels of U.S. natural gas exports, along with stagnant production, the two-year glut of natural gas supply could dissipate later this year. Heading into the winter heating season, natural gas inventories might actually dip below the five-year average. "If we have low inventory and a normal winter, that basically sets up the stage for a bullish natural gas market in 2018," said Tai Liu, an analyst at Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

As I pointed out at today's Houston luncheon, natural gas storage levels are heading to the 5-year average by the end of the 3rd quarter. If we just have an average summer, this should happen because so many more areas have gas fired power plants that have replaced coal fired plants. Watch the weekly podcast.
