Why Energy Investor should be interested in a graphite company.

Naturally occurring graphite is crystalline carbon. It is a native element mineral found in metamorphic and igneous rocks. Graphite is a mineral of extremes. It is extremely soft, cleaves with very light pressure, and has a very low specific gravity. In contrast, it is extremely resistant to heat and nearly inert in contact with almost any other material. These extreme properties give it a wide range of uses in metallurgy and manufacturing.

Graphite has a wide range of uses from pencils to lubricants. We are interested in graphite because it is used in rechargeable batteries and demand for power storage is BOOMING.
Lithium-ion batteries have a lithium cathode and a graphite anode. As the battery charges, positively charged lithium ions in the electrolyte—a lithium salt solution—accumulate around the graphite anode. A lithium anode would make a more powerful battery, but lithium expands considerably when charged. Over time, the lithium cathode’s surface becomes cracked, causing lithium ions to escape. These in turn form growths called dendrites in a process that can short circuit the battery.

Nouveau Monde Graphite discovered a large deposit of naturally occurring graphite in Southern Quebec in 2015. They have completed a preliminary economic assessment and they should soon complete the feasibility study, allowing them to move forward with permitting and construction of the Matawinie Project mine.

Nouveau Monde is developing its operations with the highest environmental standards in one of the most advanced mining friendly jurisdictions in the world in Québec, Canada. They are targeting the growing North-American lithium-ion battery market. The Matawinie Project is a local, green and safe supply of natural graphite that can be produced with a low environmental footprint. It has significant value for the North-American lithium-ion battery manufacturers.
