EPG Cruise 2018

Post by dan_s »

We left from San Juan, PR on Sunday and had a rough night at sea, but the weather has been fantastic since we docked at St. Thomas on Monday morning. Only one in our group had a bit of sea sickness, but he was fine in the afternoon on Monday. Calm seas now and clear skies.

Monday: Lots of hurricane damage in St.Thomas, but it is clear the island is making a comeback. We all went on a food tour and had a great day. Two young women who recently got out of the U.S. Air Force and the Navy run tour company. They were great and made me proud of our service women.

Weather was fantastic in Antigua on Tuesday for our speed boat adventure. Two stops for swimming and snorkgling with a wonderful lobster lunch on the beach.

Wednesday all 27 of us went on a party boat day trip. Great weather, music, food, beach. Fred Haston's birthday.

We are on to St. Lucia Thursday and Barbados on Friday.

I will be back at my desk on Monday.

Hang tough. The Sweet 16 should all report solid Q4 results, lots of proven reserve growth and production guidance for 2018. If everything lines up with my forecast/valuation models it is going to be a great year for us.

Oil Price: WTI was due for a bit of the pullback. It is just part of the rebound phase process.

How was San Juan and did they restore the electricity?

Most of San Juan has the electricity back, but outside of the large cities it is still off. All of the staff at our hotel said they got electricity back the week of Christmas. Not a lot of visible damage in San Juan. St. Thomas was much worse.

Weather makes a cruise and we had almost perfect weather each day. I am writing this on Saturday, February 3; our only sea day. Smooth sailing today.

Susan and I went with Ted & Judy Clark to local's home in Barbados for a cooking class on Friday. Flying fish was my favorite dish.

Tonight a dozen of our group are going to the Chef's Table dinner.

This morning we had a meeting to chat about oil prices and our favorite stocks. The market selloff on Friday creates some buying opportunities, unless you think oil prices are heading a lot lower. One member said that he saw a report from Goldman Sach's predicting that WTI would go up to $80 later this year. I haven't seen the report, but I did get one early this week predicting oil would top $100 within a year. Oil price forecasts are all over the map, but if WTI just stays over $60/bbl, it will be a great year for our Sweet 16.

We get back to Houston late on Sunday night. I will be back at work on Monday and I will check the operations updates that have come out this week.
