Natural Gas Storage Report - Oct 11

Post by dan_s »

Working gas in storage was 2,956 Bcf as of Friday, October 5, 2018, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 90 Bcf from the previous week.
Stocks were 627 Bcf less than last year at this time and 607 Bcf below the five-year average of 3,563 Bcf.
At 2,956 Bcf, total working gas is below the five-year historical range.

This is on-track to my SWAG of 3,250 Bcf in storage on November 16, which will be 600 Bcf below the 5-year average when the winter heating season begins.

There will be one more large increase next week (~75 Bcf) and then they will decline sharply as below normal temperatures spread.

Keep an eye on the weather in Chicago. It is the "bulls eye" for natural gas demand for space heating. When overnight lows dip below 40 in Chicago, gas demand goes a lot higher.

If the Brewers beat the Dodgers, we may see some World Series games played in the snow.
