Chevron Bows Out Of Anadarko Takeover Battle With Occidental Petroleum

Chevron said May 9 it will not make a counterproposal to acquire Anadarko Petroleum, leaving Occidental Petroleum the winner of the takeover battle for The Woodlands, Texas-based independent. “Winning in any environment doesn’t mean winning at any cost,” Chevron’s Chairman and CEO Michael Wirth said in a statement.
