Per John's Hopkins website as of 8:43 AM ET
Total world: 107,442 confirmed cases of the virus - 60,637 fully recovered - 3648 death = 43,157 active cases < a decline of 493 since my last update
Mainland China: 80,695 confirmed cases of the virus - 57,298 fully recovered - 3097 deaths = 20,300 active cases < a decline of over 20,000 in the last 11 days
> The number of confirmed cases in China has only increased by 406 in the last 11 days.
United States: 436 confirmed cases of the virus - 8 fully recovered - 17 deaths (15 in King Co, Washington) = 411 active cases
A lot of the "active cases" in the U.S are people who feel fine, but the hospitals will not release them back into the population until they have multiple tests of being virus free.

About the same numbers at both websites. Both show that most people who get the virus get over it fairly quickly (within two weeks).
---------------------------------------
This is what happened while Obama was the President. I don't recall that it got anything close to coverage from CNN that COVID-19 is getting.
Swine flu is the name for the influenza type A virus that affects pigs (swine). Although swine flu doesn't typically affect humans, there was a global outbreak (pandemic) in 2009–2010, the first flu pandemic in more than 40 years. It was caused by a then-new flu virus known as H1N1, a type A influenza virus that's a combination of swine, avian (bird), and human genes that mixed together in pigs and spread to humans. H1N1 is now considered a normal type of seasonal flu and is included in the flu vaccine.
H1N1 was first detected in April 2009 in a 10-year-old girl in California. It was declared a global pandemic in June 2009 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and was finally over in August 2010.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that swine flu infected nearly 61 million people in the United States and caused 12,469 deaths.
Worldwide, up to 575,400 people died from pandemic swine flu.< Demand for oil spiked by over 3 million barrels per day in 2010.
MY TAKE: COVID-19 is much closer to the SARS virus. SARS ramped up in the first quarter of 2003, peaking at the end of March. By the end of June, 2003 it had disappeared without a vaccine. My 'hunch" is backed up by how fast the number of active cases in China has declined.
