As of 10:00 AM CT on March 24 with data taken from the Johns Hopkins website
395,358 Confirmed Cases < Keep in mind that this is just based on those tested and not an accurate indication of how fast the virus is spreading.
103,317 People that have recovered < See note below.
- 17,241 Deaths
---------------------
275,089 Active Cases < 96% listed as mild and expected to recover
================
Fatality Rate Based only on the confirmed cases:
[17,241 = (275,089 X 4%)] / 395,358 = 7.14% < This is high but does not include people who have gotten the virus and recovered on their own without being tested.
Observations:
> USA has quit reporting the number of people that have recovered. MY GUESS is that in the USA people who are tested positive, but have mild symptoms are sent home to self-quarantine. If so, the number of "Active Cases" in the USA is being overstated because we are not doing daily check-ups on the ones sent home to recover on their own. Again, this is just my guess which is based on a Houston news reporter that I heard one day last week who said there were 19 people in Houston that tested positive, but only two were hospitalized. If COVID-19 is the "Angel of Death" we are being told, shouldn't all contagious people be placed in isolation?
> Switzerland has moved ahead of South Korea into the 8th spot. Malaysia and Japan have also moved down because the number of confirmed cases has slowed significantly.
> Asia has the virus under control based on the reported numbers. < I know the Asians are a bunch of liars, so don't send me more emails. However, the WHO is monitoring this stuff.
Below are the combined numbers of China, South Korea, Malaysia and Japan:
93,377 Confirmed Cases
77,254 People who have recovered
3,458 Deaths
-------------
12,665 Active Cases < Has been on fairly steady decline since Feb 25.
================
The four Asian nations above hold 20.7 percent of the world's population and they all have much higher population density than the USA. This is what the WHO, CDC, health research teams should all be studying carefully.
