Biden Visit Ends Without Production Boost Promise. With President Biden’s visit to Saudi Arabia in full swing, senior US officials have confirmed that Washington is not expecting Riyadh to boost crude production immediately, lifting crude prices by $2/barrel in Friday’s trading.

From Energy Absurdity: Twitter at @EnergyAbsurdity

The Wall Street Journal reports today that President Joe Biden very predictably returned to the United States Saturday without having secured any real commitment from Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince bin Salman to produce more oil. But his apologists contend that Biden is “playing the long game.”

But Mr. Biden is returning to Washington without a pledge from the Saudis to further increase oil production, and several of the other policy announcements touted by the White House were incremental or lacked specifics. U.S. officials said they are confident that the high-profile summit will yield more tangible progress, but they acknowledged that it likely will take time.

“Biden is playing the long game,” said Jonathan Schanzer, senior vice president for research at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Washington think tank critical of Iran. “He’s thinking about luring the Saudis away from China. He’s obviously thinking about oil in the medium to long term. Also, if the Saudis and Israelis make peace, he wants to be part of that.”

Ok, so, Biden’s “playing the long game” while the most severe energy crisis in global history worsens in real time. He’s the modern-day Nero, fiddling while Rome burns around him.

There is no long game to be played here where Saudi Arabia is concerned. The thought that Joe Biden, who famously promised to make the Kingdom a “pariah nation” during his 2020 campaign, is going to somehow “[lure] the Saudis away from China” is, put politely, laughable.

With its hand-fisted courtship of Iran and ongoing demonization of the Crown Prince over the Kashoggi killing, Biden’s administration has done more lasting damage to U.S./Saudi relations than any presidency in American history. The sight of the old codger shuffling out of his limousine and refusing to observe decades of protocol and shake hands with the Saudi royalty on Saturday - giving them idiotic fist bumps instead - only added insult to injury.

The global energy crisis is right now, today, and it is one that has been actively caused in great part by horrible energy policies adopted by the U.S. and governments of the E.U. over the last 15 years. Biden’s handlers had hoped their declining president might be able to wring a few barrels out of the Saudis to help prop up his poll numbers in advance of the mid-term elections. But their rank arrogance and Biden’s embarrassing ineptitude on the world stage dashed such hopes very quickly.

The crisis will only intensify as a result.

Disaster In Saudi Arabia As Biden Keeps Asking To Meet Jafar
Jul 16, 2022 - BabylonBee.com

SAUDI ARABIA — President Biden's trip to Saudi Arabia got off to a rocky start, as Biden repeatedly asked the Crown Prince if he could meet Jafar.

"So are you really, really sure you're not Jafar?" asked President Biden as he sat down with Mohammed bin Salman. "Well, maybe you can rub your magic lamp for me and then tell the genie my wish is to see Jafar! Wait, you don't even have a magic lamp? What kind of joke is this?! Come on, man!"

After calming the visibly frustrated Biden, aides attempted to turn the conversation to oil production. "Oh right, oil!" said Biden, suddenly remembering the task at hand. "So, can you give us some? Tell you what, every million barrels you give me, I'll give you one free assassination. You're the guy who likes assassinations, right? Boy, I got some drones you would love!"

At the word "assassination", an angry Crown Prince abruptly ended the meeting and aides attempted to usher Biden out the door. "I don't want to meet with this clown anyway! Bring me Jafar!" shouted the President as he walked out. "Yeah go on you clown, get on your magic carpet and go get the big guy!"

At publishing time, the price of gas had gone up another 700% and America was preparing for its next war in the Middle East.
