Bakken Companies

Post by dan_s »

Based on what DNR, NOG and OAS had to say, I am expecting some very good 1st quarter results from CLR, EOG, GEOI and WLL.

Northern Oil expects first quarter 2012 production to increase approximately 20% compared to fourth quarter 2011, resulting in an average of approximately 8,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

During the first quarter of 2012, Oasis grew production by 118% compared to the first quarter of 2011. Co states: "Our first quarter production outpaced expectations, as our team brought on production a record 26 gross operated wells during the quarter. The weather in the Williston Basin was much milder compared to last year, aiding in our ability to accomplish this tremendous growth."

Tuesday, April 17, 11:43 AM Jefferies raises its ratings on Newfield Exploration (NFX +5.3%) and Oasis Petroleum (OAS +4.6%) to Buy from Hold. Jefferies likes NFX's valuation as well as the chance for production beats this year, and it suspects NFX has been conservative with its flat production guidance for 2012. The firm also recommends OAS, citing its higher long-term forecast for WTI oil prices.

Newfield Exploration (NFX) is not a "Bakken Company" but it is heavily weighted to oil. My profile and forecast model is available under the Watch List Tab.

I just posted a company profile and forecast model for Oasis Petroleum (OAS) under the Sweet 16 Tab.
> OAS has incredible growth locked in
> It is a prime takeover target. IMO the takeover price would be 50% higher than the current market cap.
