Copper prices have pulled back from the all-time high set in May, 2024 but the copper price is still up 5% year over year.

"Copper futures fell to around $4.05 per pound on Thursday, hitting the lowest levels since early April as risk-off sentiment dominated financial markets due to sharp losses in equity markets. Demand concerns in top consumer China also continued to pressure copper prices amid a lack of concrete and forceful policy measures to boost the economy and revive the property sector. Meanwhile, China’s central bank delivered a surprise and unscheduled cut to its one-year medium-term lending facility rate amid efforts by authorities to support the economy with monetary stimulus. Investors now look ahead to the latest manufacturing and services activity data next week for more insights on the world’s second-largest economy. Elsewhere, copper prices may find support from improving sentiment in India after the government said it will continue spending on infrastructure."
