Natural Gas prices - Sept 23

Post by dan_s »

Trading Economics: US natural gas futures rose toward the $2.60 per MMBtu mark in the last week of September, their highest in nearly two months, lifted by uncertain supply and expectations of steady demand. The National Hurricane Center noted that a tropical depression or storm is likely to develop in the Gulf of Mexico in the coming days, threatening US gas output after multiple producers remained offline in the prior week due to Hurricane Francine. This added to concerns of lower supply after the latest EIA report indicated a 40 billion cubic feet increase in storage for the week ending September 6, falling short of forecasts, last year's 50 billion cubic feet, and the five-year average of 67 billion cubic feet.

NOV24 will be the front month NYMEX contract in a few days. At the time of this post NOV24 was trading for $2.84 and DEC24 was trading for $3.28.

My Top Picks for natural gas are EQT, CTRA, CRGY, OVV, AR and RRC.

All of our Sweet 16 companies produce a lot of natural gas.
